#Juneteenth #Repost @woodfinforbham with @get_repost ・・・ Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a celebration of black freedom in this country. It was June 19, 1865, when the slaves of Galveston, Texas, learned that slavery was abolished, years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect. While it's proof that justice is often much too slow in our country, especially in marginalized communities, there's a greater story here – one of perseverance and pride. No matter our race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, freedom is our birthright. Never stop fighting. Never stop believing. Because our day is coming. We shall overcome.
